Planning to Embark on a Journey on Lake Päijänne?

The Lake Päijänne Water Route is almost 400 kilometres long extending from Lahti via Jyväskylä all the way to Pielavesi. There are a total of 1,850 kilometres of marked routes in the region.

You can use our map to plan your journey, but please do not use it as an aid in navigating - the map is not detailed enough for that! Lake Päijänne, Giant of a Lake
The extensive basin of lake Päijänne starts at lake Vesijärvi in Lahti and reaches all the way to Jyväskylä in the north. Lake Päijänne offers tourists Finnish lakeside scenery at its best. You can move on lake Päijänne using a boat of your own or a rental boat or by embarking on a cruise aboard a route or cruise ship. Read more

Via Keitele Canal from Lake Päijänne to Keitele
At the north end of lake Päijänne in Vaajakoski, you'll arrive at the canal route that combines lakes Päijänne and Keitele. The route includes a total of five locks through which you'll rise a total of 21 metres above the surface of lake Päijänne.. Read more

Via Lake Keitele to Viitasaari
After the Keitele Canal, the Lake Päijänne Water Route continues to lake Ala-Keitele where water tourists will be greeted by the lively towns of Suolahti and Äänekoski and all their services. Read more

The Kansallisvesi Water Route opens the road from lake Konnevesi to the scenery of the province of Savonia, all the way to Pielavesi. This versatile water route will take a boater via four canals into labyrinthine waters with plenty to see and experience. Read more
